IMDB's Review of The Pixel Painter: “It’s obvious why this short documentary is blowing up in a big way. Hal Lasko is an incredibly compelling figure: a 97-year-old modest spitfire whose lust for life manifests itself in art created on MS Paint. Not only is he talented and achingly patient, he’s sweet and affable in that way that makes you want to adopt him as your own. And through the joyous, sometimes emotional storytelling of Ryan Lasko and Josh Bogdan, Hal has become everyone’s grandpa.”
This film project tells the story of two teenagers who wrestle with their decision to enlist in the U.S. Army. The film is juxtaposed with portraits of people from all over the world who have lived through war. I used the stunning images to explore the story deeper on the site.
